Hey there, I’m Jackie!

I have been working at FIU for over 9 years now (Yes! Almost a decade folks!) and began my role as a Success Coach January 2020. Having served in key roles throughout the university, I’ve gained some valuable tricks of the trade and also a solid grasp on what resources are available to students. My super skill is that I’m easy to talk to for some good conversation and have a knack for developing meaningful relationships. I am a first generation college student and a fellow FIU Online learner, recently completing my Masters in Global Strategic Communication fully online. I understand what it is to balance life, work, and education, so I’m motivated to provide support and guidance to students. Fun random fact: I was 22 years old when I flew for the first time, which may explain why I’m making up for lost time with travel planning and daydreaming. Aside from my Masters degree, I hold a BS in Organizational Communications and a certificate in Conflict Resolution and Consensus building as well as recognized as an FIU Ignite Spark Award and FIU Torch Award recipient for FIU Online. Most importantly, I’m excited to be part of your student journey!

Hi, I’m Janessa!

Being a two-time student at FIU, as well as working here since 2010, I bring over a decade of experience and lots of Panther pride to my role as an FIU Online Success Coach. In all the knowledge that I’ve gained, my specialty is helping students navigate and make sense of all the resources available to them through FIU. I myself struggled as an undergraduate student and I want to be able to provide students with everything that would have helped me run past hurdles, avoid obstacles, and reach that finish line sooner back then. The most rewarding feeling as a coach is knowing that I made a difference in someone’s journey. It’s why I commit myself to being there for my students every step of the way! We are all doing our best to juggle it all and a lot of the time we are unaware of the tools and resources that are out there to lend that helping hand. Coaching extends to my life outside of work, as a cheerleading and dance instructor for the past 19 years, I love to motivate people to be their best selves. I hold an MS and BS in Criminal Justice and a certificate of Academic Impression Customer Services in Higher Education. I believe there is nothing you can’t do and I look forward to helping you prove it!

Hi, I’m Nahum!

Bringing over 10 years of experience in teaching and advising, I started my role as an FIU Online Success Coach in May of 2020. My biggest motivation is anchored in my belief that education can transform people’s lives, which is why I take a keen interest in helping students reach their full potential. Holding a B.A. in Social Psychology, an MPA in Public Administration, graduate certificates in Conflict Resolution and National Security, and currently working on the final stages of my dissertation research for my doctorate in Education and Curriculum and Teaching, I invest my whole being into education. That includes ensuring that I provide students with the best coaching and advice capable of changing their lives. Outside of work and dissertation research, I enjoy reading, exploring new places, and dining out with family and friends. Just like you, I am a life-long learner trying to find a healthy balance between life, work and school. I look forward to hearing more about your aspirations and giving you the tools you need to reach your goals.

Hi, I’m Shequesta!

I began my journey as an FIU Online Success Coach in December of 2019. Working previously in education and social services, I’ve had the opportunity to take on many roles that reflected my love of helping people reach their goals. Empathetic by nature, my driving motivation is connecting and partnering with students to achieve success. Being the first person in my own family to attend college and graduate, my career path is one that I am truly passionate about. Outside of FIU, I love creating memories through travel and am a licensed cosmetologist and plus size model. You may have seen me featured on FIU Online’s instagram page answering student’s most frequently asked questions. I am currently a graduate student in FIU’s MS Global Strategic Communication program and hold a BA in Psychology from Bethune-Cookman University. I look forward to meeting you!

Hi, I’m Stephanie!

I started working at FIU in 2014 and proudly became a Success Coach in April of 2018. Earning both my Grad and Undergrad degrees as a first generation college student, I understand how important it is to know you have someone to support you. The college process can sometimes feel overwhelming on both an academic and personal level – but that’s where I come in! I will help you bring the big picture into focus, while zeroing in on smaller achievable milestones along the way. Whether it’s earning a good grade, receiving financial aid, or graduation day, I see every accomplishment as a significant one because these wins (big or small) all lead to your success. Making a small difference in someone's life motivates me every day...along with my dogs and food, of course. When I’m not trying to put a smile on a student’s face, I’m hanging with friends and my dogs or trying out different local restaurants to satisfy my inner foodie. I’ve been doing this student thing for quite some time now holding a Masters of Science and Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice from FIU, along with a Minor in International Relations and a Certificate in National Security studies. I’m excited to get to know you and to celebrate all your victories as a student!

Hi, I’m Yoana!

I have been working as an FIU Online Success Coach since December of 2019. Prior to coming aboard, I served as an Enrollment Specialist and then a Program Specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami – roles which require empathy, coaching, and building relationships from trust. I am holistic in my approach to coaching and believe there is a strong connection with academics, healthy living, and mental wellness. Even within my own life, my drive and motivation comes from waking up every day hoping to be a better version of myself consistently. My goal as your Success Coach is to connect with you and foster meaningful interactions that will lead to your success – developing you to be able to handle multiple life roles – student, professional, parent, ect. Outside of my love of being a Success Coach, I enjoy playing video games, reading, writing, and learning new things, especially things that are creative outlets, like podcasting, making youtube videos, editing, etc. I have my MPA in Public Administration and a BS in Social Work and Psychology. You could see from what I studied, I have a real passion for understanding people’s needs and helping to problem solve. I can’t wait to get to know you and help you pave the way for success!

Hello, I’m Eduardo!

Feel free to call me Eddie. I’ve been part of the FIU Online team as a Success Coach since March 2018. You can say “coaching” is a passion of mine – whether it’s motivating students throughout their journey or coaching my son’s little league baseball and basketball teams. I believe there is potential and greatness in everyone and I know how a good coach can bring out the best to help people accomplish their goals and beyond. During my own college experience, I was fortunate to have the dedication of an exceptional program manager whose persistence and guidance saw me through to graduation, achieving a BS in Health Services Administration at Barry University and a Masters of Business through FIU Online. I now get to give back and motivate people as a career, dedicating time to championing learners through one of their most important journeys. An avid sports fan, father, and novice mountain biker, I enjoy pushing past challenges and strategizing the next move. I look forward to learning more about your own story and giving you the tools to reach your goals.
